I prepared for my venture into motherhood with extensive knowledge around labor and birth. I worked as a Registered Nurse on a labor and delivery unit followed by practicing as a Certified Nurse-Midwife and most recently a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. As with any pregnancy and birth story, there were ups and downs, and I ultimately gave birth to my first son, Timothy, at a hospital with an epidural.

Fast forward two and a half years later, my husband and I were expecting baby number two. From most accounts, the birth of my first son was a success, but I knew I wanted a different experience the second time around. I gave birth to my son, Elijah, at a free-standing birth center in the water.

Since that time, I have been comparing those two experiences. Both amazing in their own way, no doubt, but the first experience had me craving something more. During my second pregnancy, I educated myself differently. Yes - even as a Certified Nurse-Midwife, Registered Nurse with over 10 years of experience, and a second time mom, I chose to prepare for the birth I dreamed of, which differed greatly from my first.

Thus, the idea of BirthPrint was born. The concept that childbirth education varies widely from person to person and also between pregnancies, is not transferred in standard hospital education courses. I knew there was a need to meet expecting parents where they were, and providing a unique, personalized education experience.

BirthPrint is where your ideals can be talked through and realities of birth can be discussed without judgement. We want to know your dreams, your fears, and to answer your questions that may seem too intimate to ask. My goal is to debunk myths, while also preparing you for potential adjustments to your birth plan as you journey through pregnancy and labor.
But that is enough about me, I want to know about you!
